Nan's Brussels Sprouts instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Place bacon in large baking pan and bake until crisp, 30-40 minutes (ovens vary). Drain bacon on paper towels and hide somewhere safe from hungry bacon lovers who've smelled it cooking. Leave the bacon grease in the pan..
- Trim & clean the Brussels sprouts. Cut large sprouts in half. For small sprouts just cut about 1/4" into the stem end..
- Slice the onion in fairly large pieces (see photo). Cut root end off of garlic cloves and remove papery skins..
- Place sprouts, onions & garlic cloves into the pan the bacon was cooked in, and stir/toss to coat all with the bacon grease. Place halved sprouts cut side down. Sprouts should be in a single layer. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and garlic powder..
- Bake, uncovered, in 350°F oven for 25 minutes. Stir, increase oven temperature to 400°F, and cook 20 minutes more until golden brown..
- Remove from oven. Drizzle balsamic vinegar over all. Stir/toss to help evenly distribute. Add cooked bacon and serve..
